Ferla Ballet and Dans I Nord Project 2017
DTI's Ferla Ballet and Sweden’s Dans I Nord, affiliated with the Royal Swedish Ballet, have begun an exciting collaboration during the Ferla Ballet Intensive in Summer 2016. Their successful collaboration sparked mutual interest to begin an international exchange program for young talented and dedicated contemporary and classical ballet students which begins in Summer 2017.
Some students ages 16-25 accepted into the 4-week Ferla Ballet Intensive (July 10 - August 5) in San Jose, CA prepare for Dans I Nord's company season which includes participation in various choreographer's creative process in contemporary and classical ballet. The project includes working with Dans I Nord's resident choreographers, guest choreographers and a national tour of Swedish cities (August 6 - October 15). A shorter tour may be available for ages 16-22.
Dans I Nord 2016 Season included choreography and/or film making by Mats Ek, Pontus Lidberg and Shahar Banyamini among other internationally celebrated choreographers. Other notable 2016 artists were Aurelie Dupond, Didier Chape, dancers from NYCB, Semperopera, Paris Opera and the Royal Swedish Ballet.
Male and female students ages 16-25 attend the February 11th or March 4th auditions held from 11:30am - 2:00pm at DTI. Registration is available
on the www.DTIdance.com home page. The 4-week Ferla Ballet Intensive includes pointe, classical variations, contemporary and choreography.
Teachers are Xavier Ferla, Maggie Ferla, Marie Laarson Sturdy (Dans I Nord director), Joseph Sturdy, Anais Chalendard and Bat Erdene Udval.
Merit scholarships are available.
Auditions in person are preferred. Students unable to attend the audition must register online prior to sending a video audition to ArtDirector@DTIdance.com.
