Alyssa Friend has been dancing at Dance Theatre International since the age of 4. Her main focus is Ballet, although she has been trained in several other styles. Due to the incredible training that Dance Theatre International has had to offer, Alyssa has been accepted into several Summer Programs across the country such as the American Ballet Theatre in
New York and Michigan, The Joffrey Ballet in New York City, Boston Ballet, The Rock School
of Dance in Philadelphia and received a partial scholarship from Orlando Ballet.
Alyssa has danced soloist and principal roles in San Jose Youth Ballet's annual production
of the Nutcracker as the Arabian Princess, The Snow Fairy, Marzipan Shepherdess, Ballerina Doll and Spanish Coco Lead in Mrs Parungao-Ferla's choreography. She participated in the Nutcracker year after year because it offered her something to strive for as well as a wonderful opportunity of growth and fun.
Alyssa was a part of Dance Theatre International's Company and Competition team under the direction of Mrs Parungao-Ferla. Her team won several awards from competitions like Showstoppers and International Dance Challenge for their jazz and tap routines. The team placed high and qualified for the dance finals in Disneyland. Through the Company, Alyssa's team performed several ballet and contemporary pieces in various dance festivals all over California.
Dance Theatre International has a great atmosphere that allows former students like Alyssa to grow and develop into artists.
Dance Theatre International has given Alyssa many opportunities to grow and mature over the years. She participated in the Work-Study Leadership Program and was given her own classes to teach during the 2009-2010 School Year.
Alyssa is very experienced with children. She is a youth leader for many years at church events and week-long science camps. She absolutely loves kids and wants to be a part of nurturing children to watch them grow into thriving young adults. Alyssa is very excited to teach and share her passion of dance.
Alyssa is the Directors' Assistant and helps organize school operations.
